Selena (セレナ, Serena) is a character introduced in the Wandering Witch series.
Appearance[]
Selena is depicted in the anime as a young child, wearing a thigh-length lavender dress with blue/violet hair and red irises.
Personality[]
Selena is first seen in public as timid and shy, likely a response to the situation. However, she is soon revealed to be extremely manipulative, having fooled Estelle into believing that she is a kind hearted person and good friend. She is extremely bloodthirsty, having murdered her parents, uncle, and attempted to murder Estelle in the alternate timeline.
Plot[]
Past Events[]
She is the childhood friend of Estelle, who had come to see her as a sister and always saw her as a happy and loving friend. However, the truth is that Selena has always been broken, abused by her supposedly loving parents and later her uncle, all of whom Selena murders beginning with her parents. Estelle, not knowing the true extent of Selena's torment, believes that it was only after she was turned over to her uncle after the murder of her parents that she had been twisted, and regrets not being able to save her. Three years before the main story begins, Selena has been executed by her friend Estelle by order of the king for the murders she committed.
Story Events[]
Volume 3[]
After arriving in the past through the use of time travel magic, Estelle encounters a young Selena, and emotionally apologizes for not being able to save her before and vows to be successful this time. Alarmed, Selena replies in a cold tone, which then she walks away with her shopping bag. Estelle and Elaina continue going to her house to protect her parents.
Selena reveals her true colours.
Later, Selena stands amidst a veritable hellscape of flames, blood, and corpses, and turns to face Elaina, revealing herself. Realizing that Elaina was the woman she saw earlier with Estelle, she laughs through blood-covered teeth, stomping on Estelle's body. She explains to Elaina that her parents were cruel people. Her father sexually assaulted her which her mother attacked her for being envious which leaded to their happiness fading, so she killed them. After asking Elaina who they were, she explains that they had come here to save her from becoming a murderer and being executed by Estelle. Selena, amused by this development, charges at Elaina. Still alive, Estelle overheard the exchange, and attacks Selena, launching her at a wall. Estelle, blinded by fury and heartbroken, frantically attacks Selena with magic. Elaina begs Estelle to stop, and struggles to remove her ring. However it does not stop Estelle, who is now burning the memories of Selena in order to kill her. As the clock strikes 6, Selena's decapitated head and body fall to the ground amidst the fire and the two witches return to their present.
Because of these actions, it created an alternate timeline where Estelle never kill Selena and Elaina never experience the time travel with Estelle.
Volume 19[]
Selena reappeared as a nightmare illusion created from Priscilla's potion after Estelle drink it in hope to regain her lost memories.
